Seville Internship Programs: 
Semester and Summer Internships

 
January Term ProgramGain professional experience, while improving your Spanish. Internships allow you access to the work culture and daily life of local citizens, often hidden to students studying abroad, and to more fully integrate in sevillano culture.
 
The curriculums of the Seville Internship Programs are centered around your internship experience. Complementary courses help you to work through the linguistic and cultural challenges you may run into while in the field.

Fields for Internship: 
 
When applying for an internship, you have the benefit of specifying what you would like your internship to look like. CC-CS will strive to match you with the best available option. Students have completed internships in a variety of fields including legal offices, Greenpeace, television production, and in education.

Program Features:

Eligibility:
  • Ability to understand normal, rapid Spanish; one semester of advanced college Spanish or the equivalent
  • 3.0 for overall and Spanish GPA, exceptions may be made with strong recommendations from faculty
  • A written application for an internship must be approved by your home institution and received no later than the program application deadline.

SEMESTER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

This program aligns with the CC-CS Upper Division Spanish Studies Program. Students complete 300 hours of field work, plus accompanying coursework, earning 8 semester credits. During an initial intensive period, students take one 4-credit intensive language course to prepare for their internship. Continual cultural guidance is also provided through the 1-credit Cultural Realities of Spain course, taken alongside other students at the Center and through the support of the Resident Director and Internship Supervisor. Internship students also have the option to enroll in one 3-credit course through CC-CS’s Upper Division Spanish Studies Program, earning a total of 13-16 credits.

3 WEEKS   
REMAINDER OF SEMESTER 
Intensive Period:
Intensive language course at the CC-CS Center in Seville (4 cr)
Continuation Period:
Internship at a sevilllano business or organization (8 cr)
Optional CC-CS course through the Center (3 cr)
Culture Course:
All CC-CS student enroll in SPAN 343 Cultural Realities of Spain at the CC-CS Center in Seville for the duration of the program (1 cr)

*Because entry in SPAN 403 is based in part upon performance on the placement exercise, acceptance into these classes takes place in Seville. On your preregistration form, if you select one of these courses, you will be required to select an alternate course.
 
CONTINUATION PERIOD
Intensive Internship
 
Students enrolled in the Semester Internship Program may choose to enroll in one content course from the Upper Division Spanish Studies program during the Continuation Period. For the available selection of courses see the Upper Division Program's Course Page.

 

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:*  

In this 8-week internship period, aligned with the Seville Summer Program, students complete 263 hours of work in the field for 7 semester credits. In addition to the internship, students also complete 15 hours of language training in a 1-credit Spanish for Internship Course during the first two week, earning a total of 8 credits.
