Service Learning
CC-CS offers qualified students the opportunity to undertake a service learning project in addition to their regular studies. Service Learning projects allow students special access to the daily life of local citizens, often hidden from students studying abroad. Participating students earn credit for their work in the field. Students benefit from:
- 120 hours of field work for three course credits; similar in design to an internship
- Anthropological tools, such as journaling, dialogue, and memoir, which enhance understanding of the process of integration and the local culture
- Regular meetings with the Resident Director, in which students may discuss progress and brainstorm
solutions to issues encountered in the field
If you are interested in participating in this special program, download the Service Learning Application and mail the completed form to the CC-CS Amherst Office by the following deadlines:
Fall Semester: June 1st
Spring Semester: December 1st
