Program Features
Seville, Spain

Having a great study abroad experience involves more than excellent professors and interesting classes. A study abroad program should draw you into the culture and life of the country where you are studying.

Our programs focus on complete cultural immersion in Seville, Spain. To aid this goal, the Center offers several program features such as overnight and local study visits and cultural activities, internships, local speaking partners, and more -- all designed to draw you into the everyday life and culture of your host country.

Study Visits and Excursions

CC-CS programs feature all-inclusive study visits with accommodations, meals, entrance fees, and expert professors and guides. Additionally, CC-CS organizes optional cultural events such as bullfights at the Real Maestranza, performances at the Teatro de la Maestranza, and weekend trips.
You can see the Center's Activities Calendars by semester of both included and optional activities for examples of what's going on in Seville:

Speaking Partners

Every year more than 200 Spanish students enroll in ESL courses at The Center for Cross-Cultural Study. This provides the opportunity for a local speaking partner, also known as an intercambio – a conversational exchange that encourages language practice and friendships between Americans and Spaniards. Students are paired with each other based on mutual interests. Sevillanos and CC-CS students first meet at a fiesta on the main patio of the Center, where the speaking partnership begins. Each partnership presents the opportunity for the U.S. student to get a new perspective on the Sevillano way of life, and for the Spaniard to gain insight into American culture.

The Center actively promotes regular interaction of Spanish and American students by organizing social events and cultural activities such as outings to the theater, festivals and carnivals, art exhibits, concerts of classical and contemporary music, video presentations, and parties with Spanish students. The Center’s philosophy encourages students to set aside American friendships temporarily and develop Spanish ones, in order to become more a part of the culture of Seville.

Internships or Service Learning Course Options

All students have the opportunity to participate in an internship or service learning project for course credit. These projects are a great way to experience the Spanish culture by working alongside local people and serving the community. Students can receive 3-4 credits for their work and internships or service learning projects are available in a variety of fields. CC-CS will work to find the best placement to serve your needs and interests. Visit the following links

Volunteer Opportunities

Students who volunteer receive enormous benefits both professionally and personally. Volunteering allows students to work closely with local community members, experience a part of the local culture that may not be seen otherwise, and offer a service that will help others in the host community. Hours may be more flexible than those of the internship or service learning course options and various projects are available. Visit our Volunteering page for more information.

Family Week

Friends and loved ones are invited to sample their CC-CS student's life in Sevilla on this special program. Each semester, CC-CS hosts students families and friends for a week of activities that allow ample time to experience Seville, while still allowing the students free time with their families and for their studies.
