The Company: Spanish Studies Abroad (The Center for Cross-Cultural Study) is a study abroad company specializing in the design and implementation of academic programs in Spanish language and local culture. Since 1969, we have designed such programs through our own academic center in Seville, Spain and through partner institutions in Spain, Argentina, Cuba and Puerto Rico. We design for-credit Academic Programs on both regular-term and customized schedules. Spanish Studies Abroad is a privately held corporation registered in Massachusetts.

Marketing Manager
Start Date: June 2013
Job Description: The Marketing Manager works under
the Institutional Relations (I.R.) Director, in order to support the
initiatives set forth by the I.R. department and to make best use of recruiting
efforts. Marketing’s main goal is to provide current and accurate information
that reflects the academic quality and cultural authenticity that defines Spanish
Studies Abroad programming to appropriate and interested audiences.
The
position requires self-direction and excellent time management skills in design
and print coordination of all marketing materials, managing updates and issues
regarding the web site, preparing for mailings, continual coordination of
advertisements (both print and online) and coordinating alumni relations. The Marketing
Manager must also regularly perform data analysis regarding the effectiveness
of marketing efforts, conduct data analysis to compare our marketing strategies
with others in the field, and initiate efforts to continually modernize and
enhance outreach and social networking efforts to increase student inquiries.
When
needed, the Marketing Manager assists the I.R. Department in helping to represent
Spanish Studies Abroad at study abroad fairs and conferences. This full-time position
offers a competitive salary and benefits and is based in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordination
of all aspects of mailings, electronic updates, student newsletters, and
customized office supplies
- Image-management
through design, or coordination of design, of Spanish Studies materials
- Regular
website maintenance and coordination of web-design
- Coordination
and design of print and online advertising
- Coordination
of the alumni program
- Regular
data analysis and competitive analysis of marketing strategies
- Enhancement
of social networking and other internet marketing strategies
- Assist
in managing internal communications and personnel information
- Represent
Spanish Studies Abroad at fairs and conferences, as needed
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s
degree

Summer Internship
June 2013-August 2013
The three month internship program with Spanish Studies Abroad is meant to provide the student with an overview of the functions and operations of several departments within our organization, with a focus on administrative tasks assisting the Admissions and Marketing departments. The intern will learn how a US study abroad provider educational programs are developed and will help to market study abroad programs. In addition, the intern will learn about our company history, mission, and vision.
Job Description: The Intern's primary responsibility will be to aid with implementation of various administrative duties related to marketing, communication, research, and administrative projects under the direction of the Marketing Manager in the Amherst office.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be highly organized and self-motivated, communicate clearly and succinctly and have experience in Microsoft Office. Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Proficiency using social media as a communication tool, including Twitter, Facebook, blogs, YouTube, and other resources. Good communication skills, written and verbal.
Fluency in Spanish is highly desired. Previous study abroad experience is also a plus.
