Travel Guide
Córdoba, Argentina

Now that all of that paperwork is over, its time to get excited and start making your travel plans!

Booking your flight

First things first, you'll need to book your flight. Buying tickets in advance can often save you money, so plan ahead.
Student Universe is a good source to search for student airfares. You may also explore other search engines or contact your local travel agent.

IMPORTANT!!!:
Almost all flights from the U.S. to Spain and Argentina are overnight flights. So, if you are flying from the U.S., you MUST depart THE DAY BEFORE the arrival date in Córdoba. See the suggested departure dates below for your program.

Remember: Spanish Studies needs to know the exact time, date, airline name, and flight number of your arrival in your host city. Make sure to fill out the "Arrival Information" form in your student account.

Note: Italicized dates should be regarded as tentative.

The government of Argentina has announced a new reciprocity fee of $165 for all U.S. citizens entering Argentina via an international flight or at a border crossing.  This fee reflects a similar fee charged by the U.S government to Argentine citizens entering the U.S. Students who are U.S. citizens must pay this fee. This fee must be paid before departing for Argentina and can be paid online at www.provinciapagos.com.ar. You will need to print your receipt and bring it with you for confirmation of payment.  The airline will not allow you to check in without this receipt.
*Travelers should note that Buenos Aires hosts two airports: Ezeiza International Airport (EZE), which handles some domestic flights and all international flights from North America, and Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP), which handles mostly domestic air traffic. If you choose to fly through Buenos Aires, you will arrive in Ezeiza International Airport. Be sure your flight to Córdoba also departs from Ezeiza to avoid the hassle of changing airports.
**Students arriving between noon and 5 pm (Argentine time) will be met at the airport by the Resident Director. Students may make independent arrangements ahead of the start of the program with their host families to meet them at the airport, including compensation for gas/taxi fare.  Otherwise, students should plan to take a taxi directly to their homestay. All students will be responsible for making transportation arrangements from the airport and for all costs involved.  We recommend that you ask the taxi driver for a receipt.
***Housing through Spanish Studies ends on the "Program End Date." Students should plan their return flights for that day. Also keep in mind that individual semester students may have the option of returning earlier depending on the UNC final exam schedule for their integrated course(s).
